The Assam Administrative Tribunal was established underthe provisions of the Assam Administrative Act, 1977.
It provides speedy and inexpensive justice to employees aggrieved by Government decisions. The Assam Administrative Tribunal Act, 1977 further prohibits other Civil Courts from adjudicating in matters relating to service conditions of Government employees. An appeal against the orders passed by the tribunal would lie before the Gauhati High Court. During the reporting period, the tribunal disposed off a total of 88 cases relating to service conditions of Government employees.
