Assam's Chayan Dutta to lead launch of Chandrayan-3

Chandrayaan-3 is a highly anticipated mission that features advancements such as increased fuel capacity, enhanced safety measures, and a larger landing site. Its innovative approach incorporates a "failure-based design" philosophy, meticulously considering potential challenges and ensuring a successful moon landing despite unforeseen obstacles.
In addition to his current position at the UR Rao Satellite Centre, Chayan Dutta also holds the esteemed role of Deputy Project Director for the "On Board Command Telemetry, Data Handling & Storage System, Lander, Chandrayaan-3" project. As the leader of this project, he oversees the development of the Command and Data Handling subsystem, which serves as the spacecraft's control center, responsible for managing all its functions.
The momentous occasion of Chandrayaan-3's launch is scheduled for July 14 at 2:35 pm. This mission serves as a sequel to Chandrayaan-2, which experienced a crash landing in September 2019 due to a software glitch. Learning from this past experience, Chairman S Somanath of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) recently disclosed that Chandrayaan-3 adopts a different design approach. By embracing the "failure-based design" philosophy, the mission actively addresses potential failure points and implements robust measures to safeguard the spacecraft, ensuring a triumphant lunar landing.
